JuniorHockey.com is pleased to name Gordon Guerrero as the Behind the Champ and JuniorHockey.com Youth Hockey Player of the Week!
Gordon is an ‘06 Defenseman playing with the Sioux Falls Power. Gordon just returned from the USHL Combine and was a key contributor in securing victory for his team (4-1). The right handed blue-liner plays a smart game and has a team-first mentality. His patience, tenacity and ability to make an impact for his team is impressive. He skates well, has solid speed and maintains the ability to drive the puck through traffic. A very mature and unselfish player
Gordon is able to play this way because he puts in the work necessary to improve his game. This summer he has been working with NXTLevel hockey. He is dedicating five four-hour days to the program. He will continue to do so until the start of the hockey season in the fall. He compliments his efforts with NXTLevel in the gym. He contributes two hours a day, three days a week to strength training and lifting prior to taking the ice. In the evening, he switches things up and plays/practices with his Legion baseball team.
JuniorHockey.com invites all of you to congratulate Gordon Guerrero for his outstanding dedication and determination this week.
Honorable Mention goes to: ‘06 Goalie, Eastynn Goff of the Adirondack 46er’s.
Pure determination. Summertime for hockey players can be challenging in some communities when rinks shut down for annual maintenance work (and some rinks are shutting down permanently due to the Covid fallout). Eastynn has found herself stuck in a similar situation this summer. As a netminder, she spent the past season maintaining over eleven hours a week in practices, in addition to games in and out of state. What’s more is that she is expected to play in the Beantown Tournament coming up in July. Like many in similar situations, Eastynn has resorted to extensive dry-land training. In addition she has been focused on staying in peak condition through her physical fitness routine and preparation.
Keep it up, Eastynn! We look forward to learning how things go in your tourney.
