Daniil Gushchin is this week’s USHL Player of the Week. In the second week of the 2020 USHL season Daniil Gushchin is gaining momentum.
In what can only be described as goal-a-palooza, The Muskegon Lumberjacks combined with the Chicago Steel to accumulate a total of 18 goals in Saturday’s contest. Gushchin played his part in four of those goals in the Lumberjacks 10-8 victory. Gushchin got on the board near the end of the first period but before the horn would sound (a mere 47 seconds later) he found the net again. Moving into the second, Daniil paired with Dylan Wendt to get the puck to Cameron Berg who scored 7:31 into the second. With the last goal of night Daniil finished off his hat trick with 43 seconds left to play. His was the only hat trick for the week.
Daniil Guschin (18) is an import from Yekaterinburg, Russia. He honed his skills with CSKA Moskva. Gushchin began in the USHL with Muskegon in 2018-19. In 2020 he was drafted in the 3rd round (#76 overall) by the San Jose Sharks.
