Great Western Futures' USHL Player of the Week: Michael Mancinelli - Junior Hockey News

Published: Sunday, 2 Feb 2020

Michael Mancinelli is this week’s Great Western Futures Super Camp USHL Player of the Week. Des Moines Buccaneers’ forward, Michael Mancinelli had an impressive week producing a goal and an assist against the Bucs’ loss to the Dubuque Fighting Saints, Friday evening. Des Moines rebounded from the loss to defeat the Chicago Steel, on Saturday, 7-6.  Thanks in large part due to three goals contributed by Mancinelli.
An Honorable Mention goes out to Ross Mitton of the Omaha Lancers. Ross scored the only other hat-trick in the USHL this week. Not only that but he assisted on the Lancer’s only other non-Mitton goal in Saturday’s 4-1 defeat of the Sioux City Musketeers.

Forward, Michael Mancinelli (18) hails from Northville, MI. Through his youth, Mancinelli spent the majority of his development in the High Performance Hockey League; where he skated with both Compuware and Honeybaked. In 2017, he was drafted by the Hamilton Bulldogs of the OHL (#229 overall) and by the Madison Capitols of the USHL (#21 overall). He passed on the opportunity with Hamilton and opted to play with Madison. In the 2018-19 season he played with the Fargo Force before being traded to Des Moines. He has committed to play for Arizona State University in 2020.
