This week the Great Western Futures Super Camp USHL Goalie of the Week is Blake Pietila of the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders. Blake joins his teammate Forward: Aidan McDonough for this week’s top USHL honor. This is Pietila’s second USHL Goalie of the Week award. He won it the first time the week of October 22nd, 2018. This week, his award comes as Blake started in both games played by Cedar Rapids. In his first appearance, Pietila and Co. beat the Dubuque Fighting Saints. He stopped every single one of the 25 shots the Saints threw at him in a 2-0 shutout. His following game was against the Green Bay Gamblers where only Sam Huff was able to best him. He and his team took the victory, 3-1. Pietila wound up facing a grand total of 48 shots for the week and only one found its way to the net.

W:15 L:9 T:0 GAA: 2.65 SV%: 0.908
Blake Pietila (19) is a native of Howell, Michigan. He refined his game in the High Performance Hockey League having played for both Compuware and Little Caesars in his youth. He finished the 2016-17 season an HPHL U16 Champion. He skated in 32 games last season with the RoughRiders where he finished with a 3.03 GAA and a .903 save percentage. Pietila will be near his hometown when he begins play a mere 35 miles down the road, with the Michigan State Spartans in 2019.
