Just play the games is the theme for this week of festivities. It’s the point in the season where rookie players are looking at the holiday season with hungry eyes. Relax boys, there’s still a ton of hockey to be played before Santa comes.
NORTH AMERICAN HOCKEY LEAGUE
Could things get any tighter in the Central Division? The Minotauros are back on top with Austin and Aberdeen one and two points behind. Heck, even fourth place Bizzie is getting in on the fun and are within five points of Minot.
Can anyone stop the Tommies? Johnstown is on a ten-game streak and are looking like runaways in the East Division. The Jersey boys are trying to keep pace (8-2 in last ten games) but continue to lose ground.
The Magicians of Minnesota are building on their lead in the Midwest after the weekend sweep at Kenai River. Did you notice the hurt Springfield put on the ‘Dogs at the Dipper? Interesting to say the least.
Those Amarillo Bulls are still leading the dirty South but are on the lookout for those hard-charging Brahmas. Lone Star is 7-2-1-0 in the last ten. The defending Robbie champion Mudbugs are winless in their last four games. Odessa’s three-game sweep of the second-place Pilots was an eye-opener.
CHEERS AND JEERS…
Cheers to teams that make up the NA3HL. It takes courage and determination to marshal through the negative paid content from the dark side of junior hockey. Just know that most hockey folks still support the programs of USA Hockey and are supporting your efforts.
Jeers to the NAHL legal department for NOT quickly seeking a legal remedy that might put a box of used sock tape into the mouth of Dr. Death.
Cheers to rest of the USA Hockey community that has decided to do something to help the Minnesota Iron Rangers of the Superior International Junior Hockey League. Let that be a warning to those punks from Thunder Bay, we got something coming for ya.
Jeers to the Milwaukee Power bench bully Fred Berry. Your decision to run up the score Friday at Evansville just secured your position on my personal do-not-contact list. Good luck in the rest of your career.
Cheers to Evansville Thunderbolt goalie Koby Lukehart for making 68 saves in Sunday’s loss to Milwaukee. Way to stick it out kid, we are proud of you.
Jeers to the folks that try to selfishly cash in on the hopes and dreams of players, coaches, and supporters of the game. It’s a simple transaction, provide what’s promised instead of making excuses for why you can’t deliver.
Has anyone seen Dennis Canfield? He went from big-time team owner coach to being missing-in-action after a brief stint as a volunteer assistant at the NCAA Division 1 level. The last thing I heard was something about selling popcorn for a Federal Hockey League team...not sure about that last one.
