The second night of the WHL regular season saw all teams in action with 11 games on the night. Out east the Brandon Wheat Kings beat the Moose Jaw Warriors 4-2. This is in spite of the fact that the Warriors outshot the Wheat Kings 30 to 28. The Prince Albert Raiders beat the Regina Pats 3-1. The Raiders outshot the Pats 37 to 28.
The Memorial Cup Champion Swift Current Broncos were upset by the Saskatoon Blades 8-0. The team was outshot 39 to 17. The Edmonton Oil Kings beat the Red Deer Rebels 4-1. The Rebels were outshot 34 to 29. The Kootenay Ice beat the Calgary Hitmen 5-3 despite being outshot 36-34.
The Seattle Thunderbirds beat the Portland Winterhawks 5-3. The Winterhawks were outshot 35-33. The Lethbridge Hurricanes beat the Medicine Hat Tigers 4-2. Shots were even at 29 for both teams. The Kamloops Blazers beat the Kelowna Rockets 3-1 despite being outshot 40-34.
The Vancouver Giants beat the Everett Silvertips 3-1 and outshot them 29 to 28. The Tri-City Americans beat the Spokane Chiefs 6-1 and outshot them 26-25. Americans player Nolan Yarmenko got two goals. Finally, the Victoria Royals defeat the Prince George Cougars by a score of 5-1. The Royals got two shorthanded goals and outshot the Cougars 33 to 29.
