36 PLAYERS WITH USHL TIES PARTICIPATED, TEAM USA FORWARD MATT BOLDY BECAME THE 5TH STRAIGHT WITH USHL TIES TO EARN PLAYER OF THE GAME HONORS.
Team Langenbrunner topped Team Leopold, 6-4 in the seventh annual USA Hockey All-American Prospects Game at Xcel Energy Center in Saint Paul, MN. Trevor Zegras (Team USA) netted the game-winner with just 35 seconds remaining while Matt Boldy (Team USA) scored twice, including the game-tying goal with 1:07 left in regulation, to earn Player of the Game honors.
36 players with USHL ties participated in the game. Boldy led the way for Team Langenbrunner with three points (2G, 1A) along with defenseman Marshall Warren (Team USA) (1G, 2A), while top 2019 NHL Draft prospect and USHL Development Series alum Alex Turcotte (Team USA) added a pair of assists to help his team to the victory. Fellow 2019 NHL Draft prospect Cole Caufield (Team USA) scored twice for team Leopold, while his Team USA linemate and projected top pick in the 2019 NHL Draft, Jack Hughes, added a goal and assist of his own.
Other players to get on the scoresheet included Michael Koster (Tri-City Storm), Ryder Donovan (Dubuque Fighting Saints) and Braden Doyle (Dubuque Fighting Saints), who all dished out an assist for their respective teams.
Boldy became the 5th straight player with USHL ties to earn Player of the Game honors at the All-American Prospects Game, joining Jack Eichel (2014), Luke McInnis (2015), Casey Mittelstadt (2016) and Brady Tkachuk (2017).
