Chayo and Kody Goodwin are a strong pair of hockey playing brothers who have moved to Steamboat for another year of playing juniors together. The Goodwin brothers are from Hyrum, Utah. Chayo is a goalie who played U16 AAA for the Utah Junior Grizzlies, then joined Kody in Billings, Montana, to play in the NAHL.
Head Coach Ryan Dingle writes, “Chayo is a fiery goaltender who has the utmost confidence in his ability to stop the puck. As a coach, you love to see your goaltenders believe in themselves. He is not afraid to let you know when he makes a huge save. His goaltending ability will push our forwards to constantly be creative and humble.” Chayo adds, “I am extremely excited to see what this upcoming team can bring to the WSHL.”
Kody, plays D, and also played U16 and U18 AAA for the West Coast Renegades. Both brothers played for the Breckenridge Bolts last season. Kody writes, “I’m very excited to see what the season in Steamboat brings us. I see big potential for the upcoming team!”
Wrangler Assistant Coach Kenny Simmons adds, “Kody Goodwin is new to Steamboat but is already fitting right in with the boys. He brings a relaxed and laid-back attitude off the ice but knows the junior hockey pace and we will look to him as an experienced vet to get the job done on the ice. At 6’2”, Kody brings in great size in our defensive zone but also has a great shot vision on the ice that will be key in the offensive zone as well.”
