It is almost time…

The USHL preseason kicked off this weekend with the Chicago Steel hosting the Muskegon Lumberjacks at Fox Valley Arena. Friday night the Lumberjacks opened the preseason by posting a 5-3 victory over the Steel.  Barnaby, Robbins and Spetz found their way onto the scoreboard for Chicago and McDonald, Badalamenti, Bukes and Kile (with a pair) tallied for Muskegon.

On Saturday, the Lumberjacks would grab another win with 5-4 overtime victory over the Steel.  This time Schmaltz, Barnaby, Kodsi and Abruzzese would strengthen their roster spots with goals for Chicago, as would Trombley, Skinner, Afanasyev and Skinner for Muskegon. After 3:04 of play it would be the Lumberjacks’ Defenseman Nic Belpedio who would net the OT winner.

Meanwhile in Kearney Nebraska, The Lincoln Stars took on the Tri-City Storm in their first preseason tilt. Tri-City would take home the win with Almquist, Eckerle and Kinnear totaling 3 goals against Lincoln’s Schlaht and Dubinsky’s pair.

Remember, all USHL teams have until September 24th to get their rosters down to 23. The 2018-19 USHL regular season will officially start on September, 27 and end on April, 13.
