The USA Central Hockey League is proud to announce that Troy Mick has agreed to become the first President of the USACHL.
“Troy Mick has a great hockey background and can only make any league stronger,” declared CEO Bill Davidson. “I’ve known Troy for many years and with his vision and leadership, I think we will fast become one of the best development leagues in the world."
“I’m honored and excited for this opportunity,” expressed Mick, “and to be part of a new Junior A league is going to be a great experience. The players are going to be playing in state of the art facilities and the communities I have visited so far have been amazing.”
A coach and executive with a wealth of knowledge and experience on and off the ice, Troy joins the organization with over two decades of coaching or managing in the WHL, BCHL, KIJHL and Academy hockey. People will remember Mick from his four years as coach of the Vernon Vipers (BCHL) where he amassed 146 regular season victories and two RBC Cup National Championships. He also won a Junior B Keystone Cup title with Revelstoke Grizzlies in 2010. Troy just finished his fifth year as President of the Salmon Arm Silverbacks (BCHL).
On the ice as a player he amassed 466 points in 267 games playing for the Portland Winterhawks and the Regina Pats. Mick sits 13th overall in career points all-time in the WHL. He was drafted by Pittsburgh Penguins in Round 7, 130th overall, in the 1988 NHL Entry Draft and signed a four year contract.
The USA Central Hockey League is a non-tuition Junior hockey league based out of the great state of Texas. To be eligible to play in the 2018-19 USACHL season you must be a 1998, 1999, 2000 or 2001 birth year. The roster size for each team in the league will be a maximum of 23 total players. There are no limits on imports so players from around the world can play in the USACHL and enjoy Junior A Hockey at it’s finest.
