The push to host the 2020 Memorial Cup is on.
As of June 14th 2018 four teams are looking to host the 2020 Memorial Cup. The Regina Leader-Post Newspaper reports that the WHL expects to receive bids from the Lethbridge Hurricanes, the Kelowna Rockets, the Kamloops Blazers, and the Victoria Royals. A final decision on who will host the tournament will be made in October as each bid will be evaluated as well as each teams individual records.
The Memorial Cup is usually held on a rotating basis between the Western, Ontario and Quebec leagues. An exception was made for the 100th anniversary which allowed bids from across the country. The 2019 Memorial Cup is set to be held in Halifax where the Halifax Mooseheads will host. Any team that secures the right to host the tournament is automatically granted the right to participate in the tournament.
