DAILY DISH: General Embarrasment Junior Hockey News

Published: Tuesday, 19 Sep 2017
By: Stephen Heisler, JuniorHockey.com

The experiment that is the United States Premier Hockey League's Eugene Generals got off to a disasterous start over the weekend, losing to the Everett Sivertips 18U team 8-1 and 10-3.

All things considered, maybe the USPHL's only USA Hockey sanctioned junior team might consider asking the region's Tier II midget teams to replace the high powered Tier I clubs on thier schedule.

Having a junior team get swamped so bad at home by a bunch of kids is embarrasing enough, but it's old news to the home crowd that witnessed similar results when the Wenatchee Wolves were part of the old Northern Pacific Hockey League.

Regardless, the opening weekend of the Generals season is certainly bad news for the rest of the USPHL and sends a serious message to everyone on the USPHL junior teams on Eugene's limited schedule. Losing to Eugene will tell the hockey world just how bad the USPHL's Elite Division really is.

I feel sorry for the poor junior players that paid $8,500+ for the opportunity to get thumped by youth hockey teams.

Great job USA Hockey... Flint's Folly looks to me like a new episode of American Greed in the making.
