The Detroit Fighting Irish announced today that 1991 Forward Peyton Hughes has signed to play for the Fighting Irish for the 2017-2018 Season. The 5-7 150 lbs forward played the 2016-2017 season for the Chicago Flury U-16 AAA Team where he gained a reputation as a player utilizing over average speed and highly developed passing skills to become a top playmaker for team.
Over the last 6 months Peyton and his parents Mark and Katlyn made the decision to allow Peyton to train with former Red Wing and hockey legend Igor Larinov in Troy Michigan where Irish scouts were able to watch Peyton's game mature in a few short months. I was impressed on how Peyton had the ability to adjust his game to various levels of the game but mostly on his work ethic stated Irish coach Steve Powers Head Coach Pete Flynn has not only been impressed by Hughes ability to adapt on the ice but has been very impressed with Peyton's quick adaptation to his billet home and surroundings. " For a young man to leave his home in Naperville Il come to a new city a new billet home and do it as if he was changing his shoes is quite amazing from early indications the transition of his game from Youth hockey to Junior Hockey will be pretty smooth sailings."
