Estero, FL- The Florida Everblades opened their 2016 Training Camp on Tuesday, October 6 with a total of 19 players on the training camp roster. Two familiar faces made the cut – Daniel Echeverri and J.P. Larmoyeux. Echeverri and Larmoyeux are the first Florida Jr. Blades to earn the opportunity to play for the ECHL team. The duo made their on-ice debut in the first Everblades pre-season game this past Saturday at Germain Arena.

Daniel Echeverri, 26, has played a pivotal role in Jr. Blades history serving as the team’s first captain during the inaugural 2010-11 season. The fast-skating forward played a total of 31 games as a Jr. Blade where he notched 30 goals and 27 assists.

"ECH has been a cornerstone of our family since the program began in 2010,” said assistant coach Tyler Carlston. “He’s exemplified what it means to be a Junior Blade for past, present, and future players in our program, we’re incredibly proud of him and his accomplishments."

Echeverri spent the last two summers winning back-to-back gold medals for his home country, Columbia, in the Pan-American Ice Hockey Games. After leaving the Jr. Blades program Echeverri played for Florida Gulf Coast University where he won two ACHA D2 National Championships.

"ECH is what being a Junior Blade is all about from his great character to being a
tremendous competitor,” said head coach Todd Pococke. “It's very exciting to
see how far he has come as a player and for him to get invited to the
Everblades' training camp shows the quality player he is overall. I wish
nothing but the best of luck to him and am looking forward to following his

J.P. Larmoyeux,
24, produced 128 points with 49 goals and 79 assists over the two seasons he
sported a Jr. Blades uniform. Larmoyeux, sibling to current Jr. Blades standout
Matt Larmoyeux, ranked seventh overall (79 pts) in his 2011-12 season with 31
goals and 48 assists in 40 games played in the Empire league.

"JP is
another player with great character and a phenomenal skillset. He comes from an
exceptional family which shows when you are around him,” said Pococke. “Playing
professional hockey has been a goal of his for quite some time now and seeing
him reach that is thrilling.”

After leaving the
Jr. Blades, Larmoyeux went on to play for Johnson & Wales University for
two seasons before returning to play for FGCU in 2015. Larmoyeux has
successfully transitioned into a defenseman after spending the majority of his
career as a forward.

“JP, as a Junior
Blade, was a constant and massive threat each time he skated on the ice, it was
a joy to watch especially since he didn’t pick up hockey until his teenage
years. It’s a true testament to his work ethic, talent and dedication to his
game,” said Carlston. “The entire Larmoyeux family has been incredibly
supportive of the program since the beginning in 2010. JP is a great, loyal,
young man who has worked very hard and has molded into an outstanding hockey

Echeverri and
Larmoyeux are both signed with the Everblades on try-out contracts. Please
