Chesapeake, VA- Jonas Hostovecky scored and added an assist to help lead the Florida Jr. Blades to a 3-2 victory over the Carolina Eagles Saturday at the Chilled Ponds Ice Sports Complex for the teams debut at the Hampton Roads Whalers Southern Showcase.
Getting on the board first, the Jr. Blades stormed to a 1-0 lead when Tyler O’Mara sailed the puck to Matt Larmoyeux taking advantage of a power play opportunity. Within six minutes, O’Mara would find Hostovecky who was able to find space through the pads of Eagles goaltender Jared Stahel. The combination of Hostovecky and O’Mara would strike again ten minutes later, this time the duo found an open path to Riley Degler who widened the lead to 3-0.
The Eagles would control the remaining three minutes of the battle scoring against netminder Fabio Meier twice in 50 seconds. Meier would remain solid with the added pressure of an additional attacker to seal the 3-2 victory over the Eagles.
Fabio Meier earns the win stopping 14 out of 16 shots faced, while Jared Stahel takes the loss allowing three goals on 40 shots.
