Daytona, FL- Forward TJ Zebley scored his first goal of the season to help lead the Florida Jr. Blades to a 6-1 win over the Daytona Racers Saturday evening at the Daytona International Skateway. The Jr. Blades entered the weekend coming off back-to-back wins against the Florida Eels.
At just 56 seconds from the opening puck drop Matt Larmoyeux struck first scoring unassisted to take the early 1-0 lead. Within eight minutes, Riley Degler would find Charlie Mondor to slip one passed Racers goaltender Cameron Walsh.
The scoreless second period was slowed by two penalties shared by each team.
Tyler O’Mara would open the scoring frenzy eight minutes into the third courtesy of teammates Trevor Bednarek and Zebley. Two minutes later, Racers York would find the only hole through netminder Fabio Meier. Three minutes later, Bednarek scored with a pass from O’Mara and Mondor. Zebley would increase the lead with a short-handed tally five minutes later.
Mondor would notch his third point of the battle with a pass from Degler ending the game 6-1. Fabio Meier earned the win stopping 12 out of 13 shots, Jesse Pennebaker takes the loss allowing six goals on 49 shots.
