Estero, Fla.- The Florida Jr. Blades started off the season with back-to-back wins sweeping the Florida Eels this past weekend. Saturday's afternoon game ended with a 5-0 win as the Eels failed to produce on home ice. The series sweep was completed on Sunday with a 4-1 victory at Germain Arena.

The Jr. Blades will travel to Florida's east coast to battle the Daytona Racers for a series of games this weekend.

"Of course we're happy with the start, but we are far from content. We've been back to work all week preparing for another big series against Daytona- who put up 10 goals in their opening weekend,” said assistant coach Tyler Carlston. “For the first full road trip of the season, it should be a good test for our guys."

The Racers enter this weekend placed second in the division standings after the Jr. Blades secured the top spot conquering the Eels to open the season.

"I thought we played well overall, but there is a lot for us to work on and tighten up,” said head coach Todd Pococke. “Daytona has shown they can score so we're going to have be defensively sound and keep things simple."

Forward Evan Maxey (4 pts) is tied for second in the league point standings after notching four assists against the Eels. Goaltenders Fabio Meier and Cayden Bailey recorded 52 saves between the pair only allowing one goal during opening weekend.

The Racers and Jr. Blades will battle at the Daytona International Skateway on Saturday at 8:00 p.m. and will meet Sunday for an early morning battle at 9:30 a.m. Game times are subject to change.
