Jakzrewski and Sewell Return to Lead the Irish Offense

With just a few weeks left before the USPHL Elite Opening game the Detroit Fighting Irish made an announcement that two major pieces of the Offensive puzzle to the 2016-2017 squad have been put into place. The Irish announced today that both Nolan Jakzrewski and Steven Sewell will return to lead the team.

Jakzrewski a 96 Forward Oxford Mi returns for his 4th Season with the Irish and is foregoing an opportunity to play at the collegiate level to play his final season of Junior with the Irish.  Nolan's return was completely unexpected stated Coach Dan Vasquez however Jaks commitment to the organization and leadership to our squad is without a doubt invaluable he has became the heart of this organization". Jakzrewski served as team captain during the 2015-2016 season and finished 2nd in points to rookie sensation Dakota Potter whom will play at Lindenwood University this year. "I just felt like the team and I left some things unfinished last season and I want the opportunity to "leave it all on the ice", I think that playing at the  Elite level is just going to add one more notch of experience that I will be able to take to the next level and will allow me to be a leader and contributor at that level state Jakzrewski.

If Jakzrewski is the teams heart than all the members of the Irish staff will all agree that Steven Sewell has became the team's soul. "A quiet player that goes about his business every night with a determination hat is very hard to match" states Irish defenceman Cody Dombrowski. When Steve is on the ice his physical prescence is known to every player and his ability to find the back of the net just gets better every shift. Sewell a 96 Forward from Belleville, MI now enters his 3rd Season with the Irish after playing his rookie season with the Tri City Ice Hawks in the Minnesota Junior Hockey League. Most notable has been Sewell's commitment to off season training which produced a much slimmer and quicker player which will only add to more displeasure for opposing defenders.

Leadership in Great Hands

Sewell was named as one of the team's assistant captains earlier this month at the team's training camp. Jakzrewski will also will also serve as one the teams assistant captains or this season..
