As the Northern Pacific Hockey League enters the final stretch of its 2015 – 2016 season, there is no doubt that every team is playing its best hockey. Over the past weekend, there were several stand out performances, including a handful of players who recorded multiple-point performances.
For the offensive player of the week award, the NPHL heads to Bellingham, Washington, for a closer look at one individual on the the Bellingham Blazers. Karson DeRego, who is currently in his first season with the Blazers, is the NPHL’s offensive player of week. As of right now, DeRego is the league’s leading scorer with 62 total points, which is 11 points higher than the player in second place.
After a nine-point weekend, it is understandable as to why DeRego is the league’s leading scorer. In the Blazers’ two-game series against the Tri-City Outlaws last weekend, DeRego was able to score two goals while assisting on seven others. This nine-point performance raised DeRego’s season totals to 26 goals and 37 assists.
Heading into this weekend, DeRego and the Blazers will travel down to Eugene, Oregon, to take on the Eugene Generals in a two-game road series at The Rink Exchange. The puck is scheduled to drop at 7:35 pm (PST) both nights.
Tune in to the NPHL’s website on Wednesday, February 10th, for a full weekend preview.
