Sunday's game, the third and final game of the series between the Coyotes and the Superior Roughriders was a strange affair. There was no scoring in the first or third periods and there were eight total penalties, six for our Coyotes and two for the Roughriders. The Yote's Josh Arnold stole the puck with 14:04 to go in the second with the Roughriders on a 5 on 3 power play. He dashed down the ice and found the back of the net for a lead for the Yotes. With 7:22 to go in the second the Roughriders tied the score. Only a minute later, Captain Erik Stenbacka took a pass from Marty Vitolins and gave the Coyotes the lead again. And this goal was also a shorthanded goal. Another minute later the Roughriders tied the game again and the second period ended.
After a scoreless third period and first O.T. the game went into the second O.T. with the Yotes on the penalty kill again. The Roughriders ended the game with a score in the second O.T. But the Coyotes came away from the series with 5 of a possible 6 points.
The Coyotes now have two weeks of practice before they travel to Utah to face the Salt Lake City Moose and Ogden Mustangs.
