Friday night the Coyotes took on the Superior Roughriders in Boulder, Colorado. The Roughriders came to play and were not intimidated by the Coyotes recent winning streak. The Coyotes got on the board first on a goal by Tim Friberg at 3:53 of the first period. The assist went to Christopher Astrom, the newest Coyote who just arrived this past week from Stockholm, Sweden.
The remainder of the first period and most of the second period were scoreless as both defenses rose to the occasion. Finally, at 13:35 of the second period the Roughriders snuck one past Coyote goalie Rikard Landfelt to knot the score at one. Neither team could score in the third period and regulation ended in a 1-1 tie.
The first O.T. period was wide open 4 on 4 hockey but, again, neither team could score. The second O.T. period got even more exciting with 3 on 3 hockey. There is just no room for the slightest mistake when it's 3 on 3 hockey. At 3:42 of the 2nd O.T. the Roughriders made that slight mistake and Marty Vitolins fired a pass to Viktor Thim who found the back of the net. The Coyotes took the "Viktory".
Kuddos to both teams for playing one of the cleanest games of the year. There was only one penalty to the Yotes and none to the Roughriders. Same two teams meet on Sarurday at 7:00 pm, and Sunday at 1:00 pm. Follow all the action at fasthockey.com.
