Jr. Blades Power Over Eels 7-5 Junior Hockey News

Estero, Fla. – Evan Maxey scored two goals to lead the Florida Jr. Blades past the Florida Eels at the Fort Myers Skatium on Saturdayafternoon. The Jr. Blades picked up their third win in a row coming off a winning weekend against the Daytona Racers.

The Jr. Blades would strike first 5:31 into the first period when Maxey tallied an even strength goal with the assistance of Matt Larmoyeux and Chris Emma. Within the next four minutes, the Eels would manage to close out the first period with the 2-1 lead putting two past Jr. Blades netminder Connor Fewster.

The second period would be dominated by the Jr. Blades play with Riley Degler and Maxey scoring two goals in the first 90 seconds of the game. The Eels would try to rally five minutes later with a goal by Max Bruzdev to tie the game. At the 13:16 mark Chris Emma would score a power-play goal to give the Jr. Blades the lead for the second time in the game. Within 90 seconds, David Wong would stretch the lead to 5-3 over the Eels on another power-play opportunity to end the second period.

The Eels would find the back of the next twice to start the third period to tie the game at 5-5. Wong would tally a short-handed goal at 12:48right passed Eels netminder Nolan Greene. With two minutes remaining Austin Resseguie took an opportunity to race past the Eels defense to put the Jr. Blades up 7-5.

Connor Fewster earns the victory stopping 34 of the 29 shots faced from the Eels, while Nolan Greene takes the loss allowing 5 goals on 41 shots.
