The Florida Eels Junior program is pleased to announce our first NCAA commitment for the Fall 2016-17 playing season.    John Drummond is a very seasoned defenseman. A four year veteran of junior hockey, John has played three seasons with the Florida Eels Junior program. John committed to Post University in Connecticut. Post University is a NCAA Division II ice hockey program. John is one of the brightest young men who ever played for the Florida Eels program. He boasts a GPA: 4.09.  SAT/ACT: 1820/27.

John had some very difficult choices to make over the last several weeks. He was honored to receive a number of offers from a number of NCAA Division III programs and it was a very difficult choice. Moreover, John received strong offers from some of the finest and prestigious universities in the country who only had ACHA Division I programs. However, John wanted to follow his dream and play NCAA men’s college hockey. He is excited about playing for Post University. It has the right academic program he was looking for. John’s long-term goal is to go to law school and become a lawyer. He is an extremely ambitious young man who is a very dedicated student graduating Valedictorian from his high school a year ago. We are extremely proud of this young man. He will go far in life. He has been a very loyal individual to the Eels playing here for the last 3 seasons.  John has matured into a solid defenseman. He is a key guy on the blueline with major minutes and helps quarterback our power play and penalty kill units. John has tremendous character, great leadership skills and has volunteered countless hours in the community. He will be a tremendous asset to Post University and their hockey team.
