Estero, Fla – The Florida Jr. Blades defeat the Daytona Racers 7-1 at Germain Arena Saturday afternoon with the assistance of Riley Degler who netted two goals.
The Jr. Blades scored first at just 6:57 after the opening puck drop with a shot by Riley Degler. Chris Emma would beat Daytona's goaltender Kristaps Nazarovs next on a power-play opportunity ending the period 2-0.
The first half of the second period would start off being plagued by penalties but relief came when Jr. Blades David Wong scored short handed at the 13:32 mark. Degler would find assistance from Wong and Evan Maxey to tally his second goal of the night just three minutes later. Devon Rodriguez would earn his second assist of the afternoon with a pass to Shea Mitruska to end the period 5-0.
The start of the third period would be similar to the second but an even strength tally by Charlie Mondor would increase the Jr. Blades lead to 6-0. Wong would earn his third assist of the night when Jack Trathen scored ending the game 7-0.
The Jr. Blades outshot Daytona 82-14. Goaltender Max Minervini would earn the win for the Jr. Blades with the assistance of Brad Robbins in the third.
