USA Hockey is
expected to announce a major restructuring of leagues along the east coast that
includes the full sanctioning of the United States Premier Hockey League.
Sources are tight-lipped about the new developments but we have learned that five teams from the Eastern Junior Hockey League will be joining the Atlantic Junior
Hockey League. The second team from each of those clubs will be added to the
Metropolitan Junior Hockey League. The last remaining independent Eastern
States Hockey League teams will be moved up to the Empire Junior Hockey League.
The teams that made up the former EJ-South will be joined with the second tier
of teams from the United States Premier Hockey League.
Emails were sent
out on to Friday to teams from the ESHL proclaiming that the league would no
longer exist. Teams that did not move over the Atlantic-Metro group would move
up to the Empire.
Are you confused
yet? I certainly am so I can't imagine what the players are going through.
We are expecting
this story to continue developing throughout the day so watch for updates.
