The Midwest Junior Hockey League saw two of its teams bounced from the AAU/UHU national tournament Sunday in Las Vegas as Tennyson Chevrolet and the Best of the Rest squads saw their time at the Las Vegas Ice Center come to an end.
The Hartland Hounds also lost, but advance to the semifinals by virtue of the goals differential tiebreaker.
Hartland fell 5-1 today to the WSHL's Idaho Jr. Steelheads as Gabe Daavettila netted the Hounds' lone goal on a power play 6:12 into the first period. Goaltender Andrew Brownlee finished with 35 saves.
The two teams will rematch Monday night at 7:40 p.m. EST with Idaho the top seed and Hartland the No. 4 seed. The other semifinal pits the WSHL's Bay Area Seals as the No. 2 seed against the NSHL's Syracuse Stampede as the third seed at 4:20 p.m. EST.
Tennyson suffered a 6-0 loss to the Seals, allowing four power-play goals in the process.
Chris Lewis made 37 saves in the loss.
Earlier in the day, the NSHL Best of the Rest squad beat the MWJHL contingent 7-0. Gavin Carlson from the Bloomington Jr. Blaze took the loss between the pipes.
The two WSHL teams will battle for the Best of the Rest title Monday at 1 p.m. EST.
