AMARILLO, TEXAS - The Corpus Christi IceRays backed by 29 saves from Ben Myers held on for a 2-1 victory over the league leading Amarillo Bulls inside a hostile Civic Center on Saturday night.

Corpus Christi got off to the start they wanted putting quality scoring chances on net.  That strategy finally paid off at 13:35 of the first period when Brandon Berkley collected a puck that bounced off the end boards and fired it by a sprawling Paul Berrafato to put the Rays' up 1-0.

The lead didn't last long for Corpus Christi as the home team Bulls pulled even off a rebound save by Ben Myers that Gage Christianson snapped top shelf tying the game 1-1 at 14:48 of the first.

In the second period Ben Myers stood on his head stopping numerous point blank chances by Amarillo and his play paid off.  Corpus Christi regained a one goal lead after a series of turnovers by the Bulls, Eric Purcell walked in all alone deking Paul Berrafato, back-handing the puck into the net at 9:24 to take a 2-1 lead.

With under a minute left in the game, the IceRays were given two penalties and the Bulls had a 6-on-3 that they could not convert on and Corpus Christi held on for the 2-1 win.

Ben Myers stopped 29 of 30 shots on the night.
