In the first game of the evening, the Hartland Hounds blanked the GL Lightning by a 12-0 count at the Allen Park Civic Arena.
Jared Vincek scored twice and added five assists, Thomas Kerr had a goal and five assists, Cam Miglia three goals and a helper and Jake Spisak added a pair of goals for the Hounds.
Hartland captain Jake Henrikson had a goal and an assist, while Zack Parrott, Cam Fisher and Collin Myers all scored one goal apiece.
Brad Savard chipped in three assists, Max Biggings two helpers and Myles Grix earned the shutout by stopping all seven shots fired his way.
For the Lightning, Garrett Avery and Colin Walsh combined for 14 saves in goal.
At the Big Bear Arena, James Goudreau, Trevor McRorie and Anthony Laaksonen all scored two goals as the Soo Firehawks held off a third-period surge and topped the Rhinelander Street Cats by an 11-6 count.
Laaksonen added an assist for a three-point game, while Alex Drulia had a goal and three assists and Quinton Myotte and Nick Murphy, who goes back on top of the MWJHL scoring race, each registered a goal and two assists for the Firehawks.
Ryan Marshall contributed a goal and an assist for the Soo and Lucas McLeod also scored to help back Brandon Hansen's 46 saves between the pipes.
The Street Cats, who scored four unanswered goals in the third period, were led by Dmitry Lvov's goal and four assists and two goals and two assists each from Aleksandr Ilin and Kirill Kulakov.
Dylan Farmer also scored for Rhinelander and goalie Rushan Guinuillin finished with 56 saves.
