HARTLAND, MI - The first-place Hartland Hounds scored 33 seconds into the game and never looked back in a 9-1 win over the Great Lakes Lightning Saturday night at the Hartland Sports Center.
Hartland captain Jake Henrikson scored three goals with two assists, newcomer Gabe Daavettila had a goal and three assists and Jared Vincek potted two goals of his own, including the goal in the first minute of the game.
"Tonight's game we brought some energy into the first, but took our foot off the pedal halfway through and that's unacceptable," said Vincek. "Going into the game, we all went in with assassin's mentality. We know every game is ours and we want to give that 110 percent day in and day out."
"We have to come out strong and work hard for 60 minutes," Henrikson said. "It's as simple as that."
Zak Bodziak and Alex Grizzel each had a goal and an assist, Tyler Thirlby scored and Jake Spisak tacked on a pair of assists to help back Myles Grix's 26-save outing in goal.
Great Lakes captain Andrew Shalawylo netted the lone goal for the Lightning and Jeff LaBaere and Garrett Avery combined to make 56 saves.
