The weekend in El Paso didn't end as the New Mexico had hoped as the Renegades fell to the Rhinos 8-2 Sunday, Jan. 20 at Sierra Providence Events Center. Following two impressive performances against the Mountain Division leading Rhinos, including a 4-3 shootout win Friday, Jan. 18 and a tough 1-0 loss Saturday, Jan. 19, the Renegades short bench and growing injured list caught up to the team Sunday afternoon. Newcomer Nick Stirmel, dealing with a knee injury that left him barely able to walk, much less skate, finished with both Renegades goals, a power play goal and a shorthanded goal. Fellow newcomer Robby Gervino, dealing with an ankle injury that has kept him on crutches for the past week and all weekend, dressed for Sunday's game and was highly effective. The Renegades will now have two weekends off and the timing couldn't be better to get all their injured players healed and ready for the final five-straight weekend stretch of the season.
