Both the Bloomington Jr. Blaze and Rhinelander Street Cats wrapped up weekend sweeps on home ice Sunday in Midwest Junior Hockey League action.
In the first game of the day, Joe Clemente posted three goals and three assists as the Jr. Blaze edged the Holland River Bandits 8-7 at the U.S. Cellular Coliseum.
Steven Smoltz added two goals and three assists, Matt Donley a goal and four assists and Patrick Anaruk a goal and three helpers in the win.
Kyler Schmor added a goal for Bloomington, while goaltender Gavin Carlson recorded the win in relief, stopping all 10 shots he faced over the final 13:59 after Will Rohleder started and allowed seven goals on 24 shots through 46:01 of work.
For Holland, Cam Fisher scored three goals with an assist and Bryce Stenstrom, Abram Prince and Cory Bussing all had a goal and an assist.
Cam Benson tallied the other goal, Alex Devries tacked on two assists and John Posler made 38 saves in goal.
At the Rhinelander Ice Arena, Dylan Farmer had a four-point game on a goal and three assists as the Street Cats defeated the Great Lakes Lightning 7-4.
Dmitry Lvov scored a pair of goals with an assist, while Cody Stolzman and Todd Huotari had a goal and an assist apiece.
Devan Vander Wyk and Taylor Cutting netted the other goals for Rhinelander and Spencer Brasswell made 36 saves and also drew an assist on Cutting's goal.
Mitch Mergel, Andrew Defauw, Jacob Bradley and Colton James scored for the Lightning to go along with a 38-save outing from Colin Walsh.
