Hurricanes rips Palm Beach - Junior Hockey News

Space Coast Hurricanes had a three-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to an 8-3 win over Palm Beach Hawks.

Keegan Finn had two goals and one assist to lead Space Coast Hurricanes. Finn scored the first of his two goals short handed at 17:49 into the first period to make the score 3-1 Space Coast Hurricanes. Space Coast Hurricanes played down a man on Matthew Montoya-Martin's tripping. Jack Musil provided the assist. Finn's next tally short handed made the score 4-1 Space Coast Hurricanes with 17:00 left in the second period. A roughing penalty on Jake Simons had put Space Coast Hurricanes on the power play. Griffin Rogers assisted on the tally.

Space Coast Hurricanes' penalty kill excelled, as Space Coast Hurricanes gave up one goal despite allowing eight power plays.

Space Coast Hurricanes forced Palm Beach Hawks' goaltenders to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, getting 42 shots and forcing 34 saves. Tommy Cruz made 16 stops andShayne Dietl made 18. Space Coast Hurricanes surpassed its usual scoring output this season. This season, Space Coast Hurricanes averages 3.1 goals per contest. Space Coast Hurricanes was forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as it racked up 20 penalty minutes. The defensemen of Space Coast Hurricanes were also effective in Palm Beach Hawks' zone, and came away with two goals.

Space Coast Hurricanes also got points from Crissostomos Villarreal, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Rogers, who also finished with one goal and one assist, Musil, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Clay Plyler, who also had one goal and one assist, and Brian Hurley, who also registered one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Space Coast Hurricanes also got a goal from Garrett Gunski as well. In addition, Space Coast Hurricanes received assists from Sean Zingler, who had one.

Palm Beach Hawks forced its penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up nine minors and one major for 43 minutes in penalty time. Palm Beach Hawks had been averaging 19.0 minutes in penalties per game. Space Coast Hurricanes was unable to stop Palm Beach Hawks from sending pucks towards the net, and Palm Beach Hawks eventually piled up 45 shots on goal.

Palm Beach Hawks additionally got points from Brandon Desrosiers, who also finished with one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Dan Fuller also scored for Palm Beach Hawks. Other players who recorded assists for Palm Beach Hawks were Joseph Lambert and CJ Hoy, who contributed one a piece.

Parker Bonis rejected 42 shots on goal for Space Coast Hurricanes. Space Coast Hurricanes registered three goals on eight power play opportunities.
