The Midwest Junior Hockey League, a proud member of the Amateur Athletic Union, announced today its players of the month for the month of December.
The players of the month are voted on by league staff, coaches and general managers.
Player of the Month - Nick Murphy, Soo Firehawks
The 19-year-old Waterford, Mich., native, who also won the award for November, posted six goals and 14 assists for 20 points over eight games last month.
Murphy, the MWJHL's leading scorer with 36 goals and 68 points in 30 games for the Firehawks, had six multi-point games in December, including a six-point outing (goal, five assists) on Dec. 21 against the NWO Grrrowl.

Defenseman of the Month - Kevin Killips, Soo Firehawks
Killips tallied four goals and 13 points in eight games in December and currently leads the MWJHL in defensemen scoring with 17 goals and 44 points.
Last month, Killips, a 19-year-old Sault Ste. Marie, Mich., product, registered four multi-point games, including a pair of three-point performances (goal, two assists) on Dec. 21-22 against NWO.

Goaltender of the Month - Andrew Brownlee, Hartland Hounds
Also the winner of this award for November, the 19-year-old fromFowlerville, Mich., went 7-0 in December with a .943 save percentage, a 1.71 goals-against average and a shutout Dec. 7 against the Rhinelander Street Cats.
Overall this season, Brownlee leads the MWJHL in wins (22-0), save percentage (.931) and goals-against average (1.86).
