Ogden Mustangs 5, New Mexico Renegades 2
F Kristian Kraus scored two more goals and G Colby Atkinson made 40 saves as the Ogden Mustangs won their first game of the showcase, 5-2, over the New Mexico Renegades.  F Michael Dery had two points (1-1-2) in the game for Ogden, giving him seven points (3-4-7) in his last four games.  D Cody Miller assisted on both New Mexico goals. 

Tulsa Junior Oilers 3, Phoenix Knights 1

Veteran F Bobby Watson figured in all three Tulsa goals in the first period and G Tyrus Vanmater held down the fort as the Junior Oilers picked up their first win of the showcase.  F Kyle McLean scored the only goal for Phoenix-his 13th of the season.

Cheyenne Stampede 3, San Diego Gulls 2

D Dominick Manochio scored a power play goal with 7:23 remaining to give the Cheyenne Stampede a 3-2 win over the San Diego Gulls.  G Daniel Cepila handled 34 of the 36 shots he faced in the Cheyenne crease while F Alex Johansons scored a goal and assisted on another for the Stampede.  F Noah Eckebrecht scored the other Cheyenne goal, his 13th of the season.  F Zenyth Hamil and F Drew DePalma scored for San Diego.  Hamil now has points in eight of his last nine games, producing 14 points (7-7-14) in that span.

Boulder Bison 2, Southern Oregon Spartans 0

F Seth Ensor and F Will Neff scored and G Dax Deadrick posted his second shutout of the season as the Boulder Bison picked up their first win of the showcase, 2-0, over the Southern Oregon Spartans.

Salt Lake City Moose 6, Long Beach Bombers 3

The Salt Lake City Moose scored four times in the second half-two each from F Brandon Grognet and F Dan Veselovsky and defeated the Long Beach Bombers 6-3.  Grognet has scored a goal in all three games in Las Vegas, including a pair in each of the last two games.  F Patrick Dywercollected four assists in the game for Salt Lake.  D Stephen White scored his 10th goal of the season for Long Beach and has now reached the 30-point mark (10-20-30) on the season.  F Nikika Korotkov posted his fifth consecutive multi-point game for the Bombers.  He has produced 17 points (6-11-17) in his last eight games.

Bay Area Seals 5, Dallas Snipers 0

The resurgent Bay Area Seals won for the second straight day at the showcase-and the fourth time in their last five games-with a 5-0 shutout of the Dallas Snipers.  Newly-acquired G Filip Orcik stopped all 29 shots sent his way while fellow Slovak import F Filip Ondracek posted a goal and an assist.

Arizona Redhawks 5, Wichita Junior Thunder 1

F Kyle Pavlack scored a goal and assisted on two others, and G Fredrik Johansson stopped 27 of 28 shots as the Arizona Redhawks defeated the Wichita Junior Thunder 5-1.  G Daniel Weiss was peppered with 51 shots in the Wichita net, stopping 46.  F Filip Martinec drew an assist on Wichita's lone goal, extending his point streak to six games (5-7-12 in that span).

Dallas Ice Jets 4, Valencia Flyers 1

F Conner Ensisco figured in all four goals for the Dallas Ice Jets as they defeated the Valencia Flyers 4-1.  Ensisco scored twice and assisted on the other two goals for the Ice Jets, who are now 3-0-0 at the 2012 Western States Shootout heading into their big tilt tomorrow with the Idaho Junior Steelheads.  F Kevin Antipov scored the lone Valencia goal on a penalty shot.


El Paso Rhinos 5, Ontario Avalanche 1
Five different El Paso skaters scored and G Austin Brihn allowed just one goal on 24 shots as the El Paso Rhinos defeated the Ontario Avalanche, 5-1, for their third win in as many days in Las Vegas.  Brihn raised his save percentage to .921 on the season.  F Aaron Rasmussen (1-1-2) had his third multi-point game in the last four for the Rhinos while F David Nelson dished out a pair of assists, giving him 19 points (7-12-19) in his last nine games.

Idaho Junior Steelheads 4, Fresno Monsters 2

G Blake Mendenhall scored into an empty net to seal the Idaho Junior Steelheads' 4-2 comeback win against the Fresno Monsters.  Aside from providing the insurance goal, Mendenhall was sharp in handling more traditional goaltending duties, backstopping the Junior Steelheads to a huge inter-division win.  F Nick McKee scored a goal and assisted on another to give Fresno a 2-0 lead, but the two-time defending Thorne Cup champions stormed back.  Idaho's F Stefan Brucato extended his point streak with a goal and an assist.  Brucato, who leads the WSHL in assists (48) and points (66) has scored at least one point in all 24 Idaho games this season, and has multiple points in 20 games.

Texas Junior Brahmas 3, Seattle Totems 2

The Texas Junior Brahmas won for the third time in three days, holding on to defeat the Seattle Totems, 3-2.  D Jack Norling gave Texas a 2-1 lead with a power play goal 8:30 into the second half.  F Jaren Jones gave the Junior Brahmas an insurance goal they would ultimately need as F Frank Flight scored 24 second later to get Seattle back to within a goal.  Texas G Eric Messer made 38 saves to win his second game of the showcase for the Junior Brahmas.  G Philip Park made a season-high 42 saves for the Totems.

Question for you WSHL people....Why does there seem to be a terrible relationship between Pointstreak and the WSHL? Every week there is a problem with something somewhere.
