Tulsa Junior Oilers 3, Phoenix Knights 1

Veteran F Bobby Watson figured in all three Tulsa goals in the first period and G Tyrus Vanmater held down the fort as the Junior Oilers picked up their first win of the showcase.  F Kyle McLean scored the only goal for Phoenix-his 13th of the season.

Cheyenne Stampede 3, San Diego Gulls 2

D Dominick Manochio scored a power play goal with 7:23 remaining to give the Cheyenne Stampede a 3-2 win over the San Diego Gulls.  G Daniel Cepila handled 34 of the 36 shots he faced in the Cheyenne crease while F Alex Johansons scored a goal and assisted on another for the Stampede.  F Noah Eckebrecht scored the other Cheyenne goal, his 13th of the season.  F Zenyth Hamil and F Drew DePalma scored for San Diego.  Hamil now has points in eight of his last nine games, producing 14 points (7-7-14) in that span.

Bay Area Seals 5, Dallas Snipers 0

The resurgent Bay Area Seals won for the second straight day at the showcase-and the fourth time in their last five games-with a 5-0 shutout of the Dallas Snipers.  Newly-acquired G Filip Orcik stopped all 29 shots sent his way while fellow Slovak import F Filip Ondracek posted a goal and an assist.

Arizona Redhawks 5, Wichita Junior Thunder 1

F Kyle Pavlack scored a goal and assisted on two others, and G Fredrik Johansson stopped 27 of 28 shots as the Arizona Redhawks defeated the Wichita Junior Thunder 5-1.  G Daniel Weiss was peppered with 51 shots in the Wichita net, stopping 46.  F Filip Martinec drew an assist on Wichita's lone goal, extending his point streak to six games (5-7-12 in that span).

Idaho Junior Steelheads 4, Fresno Monsters 2

G Blake Mendenhall scored into an empty net to seal the Idaho Junior Steelheads' 4-2 comeback win against the Fresno Monsters.  Aside from providing the insurance goal, Mendenhall was sharp in handling more traditional goaltending duties, backstopping the Junior Steelheads to a huge inter-division win.  F Nick McKee scored a goal and assisted on another to give Fresno a 2-0 lead, but the two-time defending Thorne Cup champions stormed back.  Idaho's F Stefan Brucato extended his point streak with a goal and an assist.  Brucato, who leads the WSHL in assists (48) and points (66) has scored at least one point in all 24 Idaho games this season, and has multiple points in 20 games.

Question for you WSHL people....Why does there seem to be a terrible relationship between Pointstreak and the WSHL? Every week there is a problem with something somewhere.
