Before I get started with this today's edition of
the Prospect Preview, I just want to say I hope everyone who is being affected
by Hurricane Sandy is unharmed.
Today, we will look at Brandon Wheat Kings defenseman, and Manitoba native as well as team captain, Ryan Pulock.
Ryan Pulock is enjoying his third season in Brandon
and currently has scored seven goals and tallied 11 assists, which adds up to
the twentieth best point totals in the Western Hockey League.
He is the marquee defenseman for the Wheat Kings and
is projected to be an early first round selection in the 2013 National Hockey
League Entry Draft.
Last season, Pulock enjoyed a productive sophomore
campaign. He scored 19 goals and 41 assists in 71 games for Brandon.
Pulock is considered an elite two-defenseman, who
gifted on both ends of the ice, although I would categorize Pulock as an
offensive defenseman.
His NHL caliber shot is something that the scouts
have been sure to take notice.
The main facet of his game that has scouts talking
is his hockey IQ.
On-ice IQ is imperative to have, especially for a
defenseman. Moreover, I would say Pulock could the "smartest" defenseman in his
draft class.
He also possesses a decent first pass, which mostly
are fast and accurate.
All aspects of Ryan Pulock's game have made his a
can't-miss prospect. Furthermore, he should be selected in the top ten of this
year's draft.
It does not matter where Ryan Pulock ends up, he
will project to be a exceptional number two defenseman.
I do not see Pulock developing into a number one
defender, but he will definitely be an All-Star caliber defenseman in the NHL
for years to come.
Tomorrow we will profile Guelph Storm winger Jason
Dickinson.
