Bo knows Hockey. I knew that Bo played Baseball and Football back in the day, but I'm speaking of London Knights forward Bo Horvat. The native of Rodney, Ontario is enjoying his second season in the OHL.
Horvat is currently fourth in team scoring with six goals and four assists in 10 games with the Knights this season, but last year was a bit of an adjustment period for the 6'0", 203-pounder.
Before he was selected ninth overall in the 2011 OHL Priority Selection, Horvat was the highest-scoring player in the province of Ontario as he netted 47 goals and 71 assists in 68 games with the Elgin-Middlesex Chiefs' minor midget squad.
When he cracked a veteran Knights lineup last season, Horvat played mainly on the bottom-six forward lines. During his rookie season in the OHL, he was named captain of Team Ontario in the World U-17 Hockey Challenge and showed what he could do on the ice.
Horvat didn't disappoint as he finished with four goals and three assists in seven games with a silver medal to show for it. He was also named the second star of a 5-0 win over Germany on December 30 as he excelled in the offensive as well as in the defensive side.
Horvat returned to the Knights' lineup after the World U-17 tournament and was part of the OHL Championship team that was one goal away from winning the 2012 Memorial Cup. The Knights lost to the host Shawinigan Cataractes 2-1 in overtime.
His solid play in all three zones has drawn rave reviews from scouts and it could lead to Horvat becoming a potential first round pick in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft. I conducted an interview with Bo Horvat prior to the Knights matchup against the Whalers at the Budweiser
