Steve Shannon has been handed his outright release by the Port Huron Fighting Falcons, multiple sources have confirmed to Juniorhockey.com.
A day after being stripped of his duties as vice president and general manager of the North American Hockey League team, Shannon has also been fired as head coach.
Assistant coach Mike Gershon has been promoted to head coach and general manager and will address the Fighting Falcons players at practice today, sources have confirmed.
Fighting Falcons owner Maribeth Hayes would not comment on any changes to her organization.
But sources have said that Hayes is furious with Shannon for allegedly leaking confidential information to other members of the Fighting Falcons organization without her authorization.
