The Canadian Hockey League announced earlier today that Kitchener Rangers netminder John Gibson was named  the first Vaughn CHL Goaltender of the Week for the 2012-13 season.

The 19-year old posted two wins in his first two games. The first was a 25-save performance for his second OHL shutout against the Mississauga Steelheads last Friday and for an encore, he recorded 28 saves in a 3-2 shootout win in Sarnia against the Sting Sunday afternoon. Gibson also posted a 0.96 goals against average and a .964 save percentage.

The Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania native, who is playing in his second season in the "O", was drafted by the Anaheim Ducks in the second round, 39th overall, in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.
