CALIFORNIA NATIVE TO DRESS WITH ICE THIS WEEKEND AT FALL CLASSIC INDIANAPOLIS- The Indiana Ice added some offensive firepower today as the team acquired veteran forward Austin Ortega from the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders in exchange for Indy affiliate list player Bryson Cianfrone. Ortega will wear #7 this weekend at the "Fall Classic". Ortega made his USHL debut last season in Cedar Rapids and finished tied for second on the team in both goals (19) and power play goals (7). Overall numbers included 33 points (19G, 14A) and 39 penalty minutes in 59 contests. The native of Escondido, CA played alongside fellow Iceman Tyler Pham during the 2010-2011 season with the Colorado Thunderbirds program and has secured a future college commitment with the University of Nebraska-Omaha Mavericks of the WCHA. The Ice trek west this week to Sioux City, IA for the "Fall Classic" which is the annual USHL preseason tournament showcasing all 16 USHL teams who play for three days in front of over 200 collegiate and professional scouts. On the docket for Indiana are the Tri-City Storm, Des Moines Buccaneers and the Waterloo Black Hawks. Indy begins the week with an 11 am faceoff with Tri-City on Thursday before Friday's 11 am battle with Des Moines. The Ice closes the series with a matinee appearance against the defending Western Conference Champion Black Hawks at 5 pm on Saturday. Indy split a pair of preseason games against the Chicago Steel and the Muskegon Lumberjacks last weekend. The Ice dropped a 5-3 decision to the Steel on Thursday before posting a 2-1 victory over the Lumberjacks on Saturday. Robbie Baillargeon (three assists) and Zach Aman (two goals) led Indiana offensively last weekend, while Dalton Izyk earned the lone win in net. The Ice begin the regular season in Chicago on Friday, September 28 before making their "Circle City" debut on Saturday, September 29 against the Omaha Lancers from Pan Am Plaza. The puck is set to drop at 7:05 pm. Single-game tickets start at $11 for Bankers Life Fieldhouse games and general admission tickets for Pan Am Plaza games are $10. There is a $2 discount for children 10 and under and seniors 62 and over.
