Windsor Spitfires, Oshawa Generals Complete Trade - Junior Hockey News
Published: Wednesday, 19 Sep 2012
The Windsor Spitfires announced a trade Wednesday morning as they acquired 19-year old forward Emerson Clark and a third round pick in the 2014 OHL Priority Selection (via Sault Ste. Marie) from the Oshawa Generals. In exchange, the Spits sent forward Hunter Smith, their sixth round pick in the 2015 OHL Priority Selection as well as their fourth-round pick (via Ottawa) in the 2014 OHL Priority Selection, which completes the Jeff Brown trade which transpired on December 31, 2010.
Last season with the Generals, Clark scored 12 goals with two assists, 100 penalty minutes and a plus/minus rating of +6 in 50 games. Entering his fourth OHL season, Clark has 19 goals, seven assists and 365 penalty minutes in 147 games. The acquisition of the Whitby, Ontario native gives the Spitfires some toughness with a touch of offense to go along with his experience.
Smith spent his 2011-12 campaign between the Spitfires and their Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League (GOJHL) affiliate, the LaSalle Vipers. In 41 games with the Vipers, Smith racked up five goals and nine assists with 109 penalty minutes and with the OHL club, he had 19 penalty minutes with a -6 rating in 15 games.
Other OHL News: The Generals made another move as they sent overage forward J.P. Labardo to the Erie Otters for a conditional 15th round pick in the 2013 OHL Priority Selection. Last season with the Generals, Labardo, 20, scored eight goals with 11 assists, 28 penalty minutes and a plus/minus rating of -3. This will be Labardo's fifth year in the 'O'.
