Sources within the team ownership of the Tropical Elite Hockey League are confirming that some members are asking the Amateur Athletic Union to look into the finances of the league.

Owners, players, parents, and even potential sponsors were told that the TEHL was formed as a non-profit 501c3 entity but JuniorHockey.com staff discovered something else entirely yesterday.

Kent Wade Rorem, Wayne S. Wright, and Petra Write filed papers with the State of Florida on 6/30/12 forming the Tropical Elite Hockey League Inc., a for profit entity.

When looking at this closer, one quickly realizes that Wright's wife, Petra Wright, has her name misspelled on the corporate documents. Now why would she do that?

The same sources have provided general financial insight concerning the league. To date, the league has brought in an estimated $25,000 from team and a very limited number of player fees. That money has apparently disappeared. Expenses are said to include an extended stay by Wright, and others, at an Orlando area Clarion Hotel. The final bill was reportedly in excess of $6,400. Other personal expenses included the Wright's rental of a luxurious Daytona Beach area home, and the ten day trip to Scotland made by Stirling Wright.

From the beginning I've questioned the competence of Stirling as a commissioner and was deeply concerned that what started out as a good idea for a junior hockey league could quickly turn into a criminal conviction if league funds were utilized for personal expenses. I've repeatedly expressed those concerns over the last few months.

The bottom line is simple, the TEHL might have stared out with good intentions, but now looks like a criminal money-grab just waiting for an investigation, conviction, and sentencing before the final chapter is written from a jail cell in Florida.

Players and parents need to gather all correspondence and payment information for the inevitable investigation. We will do our best to follow the progress along the way.

Regardless, the 2012-2013 hockey season is about to start, effected players are welcome to contact me directly in order to help locate other teams to join.

"Sleuth" Heisler is at it again.

I'll tell you, man, your investigative work in matters such as this is impressive, to say the least.

You might want to check Sunbiz.org. It looks like the TEHL is listed as a non profit corp. The corp address is listed as the 2221 Partin Settlement Rd which is the address of the Ice Factory. I might be wrong but the Clarion is within a mile of the Ice Factory and basic room rates are pretty cheap. My son is a bantam hockey player and would some day like to play as a junior so I do appreciate you looking into all leagues and providing the info to the public.

The TEHL may have both... that is itself is very questionable.

Florida has very open public access to most corp filings and I cant find any other filings in Stirling Wrights name.

UPDATE-
Wright will be facing an AAU inquiry today in regards to the financial situation along with the likelihood that four teams will move forward with their own schedule without Wayne Stirling Wright at the helm...that is if there are really four teams with playable rosters.

Authorities in Florida have been notified and are looking into allegations concerning the league's finances.

Wright is being accused of using league money to pay for an extended stay at an Orlando area Clarion Hotel, the rental of a luxurious Daytona Beach area home (with a pool), and a 10-12 day trip to Scotland to attend a former team's reunion. Wright's wife, Petra, admitted to these allegations via a telephone conversation with one of the team owners.
