Day one of Fresno Monsters main camp is complete. There were a lot of fans in the crowd and who could blame them when its 100 degrees outside! There was also a lot of talent on the ice and its was really fun to see the new players come in and also the returning players coming back to Fresno to live the dream.
In the first game of the day it was Team Green VS Team White. This was a very equal game where almost all the boys skated their hearts out and played great. Team Green took the victory by a single point. The final score was 3-2.
In the second game we saw a lot of returning players. Both teams skated hard on the ice and they all played incredibly. It was an equal game down to the wire but Team Yellow came out with a 4-5 win.
The last game of the night was another great one where Team Black and Team Light Blue both showed they are good hockey players. Team Black dominated the whole game and took a 2-0 win. Team Light Blue did show a lot of quick skating and great defense but couldn't put the puck in the back of the net.
I caught up with Tyler Lazarek after his game for his thoughts on the opening day of camp, Lazarek has been with the Monsters WSHL program for 2 years.
"Everyone is pretty normal the first day. Everything will really pick up tomorrow, passes are usually better and guys grip their sticks tighter."
There is a lot of good talent at this camp and you can put together a good hockey team with what is on the ice.
I will have daily updates for you as I will be in attendance for all the games.
