What a coup that would be for the USHL. Windsor would be a major draw for the USHL. I am actually surprised that Plymouth, Saginaw and Erie haven't left the OHL for the USHL already.

I've always said that the OHL has the top two lines in juniors but the USHL has the better overall team and organization
The OHL prides itself on its integrity and other mis-placed words of propaganda that come from both sides of the mouth of Commissioner David Branch.
The USHL has narrowed the gap over the years in terms of the number of players drafted to the NHL versus the OHL. Imagine how much stronger the USHL would be if it brokered a deal with the Windsor Spitfires.

I would be surprised if the Windsor Spitfires don't at least look at the idea of moving to the USHL as a way to not pay the OHL the 400,000 fine..
The only thing stopping them along with Saginaw, Plymouth and Erie is that what happens to the players they currently have that would not be available to play in the USHL. They would have to completely reorganize their scouting staffs
Doing so would be difficult for this season... and the team could seek a legal remedy in regards to the fine and make sure the appeals last until the end of this season.
2013-2014 in the USHL certainly would be a reachable target.

Here's a better idea...why doesn't the USHL just merge with the CHL..that way they would no longer have to play 2nd fiddle to the NCAA and continuously lose their top young players to either the NTDP of college teams....just think how much better the USHL would be.

I know you have your heart in the right place about growing American junior hockey leagues..
However the Windsor Spitfires are worth between $5-15 million as an OHL team - as are all Canadian-based OHL teams.. I don't mean to belittle your article or opinion, but a move to the USHL would decrease their franchise value by 80% or more, not to mention the decrease in talent the fans would see..
It's not 99% that it won't happen, or 99.999% .. it's 100%..
(Side response: as to Erie, Plymouth and Saginaw seeking a move to the USHL? They'd be much, much wiser seeking a move somewhere in Ontario.)
stephan one sentence jumped out at me in your article quote-Windsor fans will quickly grow to appreciate the accelerated pace of play unquote--realy???
