Team Canada opened the 2012 Memorial of Ivan Hlinka Tournament with a 4-1 win over Switzerland at Zimny Stadion in Piestany, Slovakia.

Nathan MacKinnon of the QMJHL's Halifax Mooseheads scored the deciding goal and added two assists for Team Canada. MacKinnon, from Cole Harbour, Nova Scotia, is projected to be one of the top picks in next year's NHL Draft.

Canada also got goals from Curtis Lazar (Edmonton Oil Kings, WHL), Nicholas Ritchie (Peterborough Petes, OHL) and Yan-Pavel Laplante (PEI Rocket, QMJHL). Two of MacKinnon's teammates in the "Q" also had an impact on the ice as Jonathan Drouin had two assists and Zachary Fucale stopped 30 shots, including 13 in the third period. Tim Wieser scored the lone goal for Switzerland.

Canada will be back on the ice tomorrow morning at Zimny Stadion for an 8:00 am EST matchup against Sweden.
