The Saginaw Spirit has signed their second player from the 2012 Canadian Hockey League Import Draft by inking 1995-born forward Andrey Alexeev to an OHL contract earlier today.
Alexeev, who is listed at 5' 8", 158 lbs., was taken with the 33rd selection in last month's Import Draft. Goaltender Nikita Serebryakov, taken 18th overall in the CHL Import Draft, signed with the Spirit this past Wednesday. The two of them played for Team Russia in the 2011 Under-16 Four Nations Tournament and Alexeev was one of the team leaders in points. Alexeev, who also skated for Balashikha HC in 2011-12, has been described as great skater with plenty of upside.
Alexeev is expected to take part in next month's Spirit Training Camp.
