BCHL's Victoria Grizzlies continue to sharpen their claws in preparation for the upcoming season. A change in ownership, sound staff replacements and a new Adivsory Alumni Board indicates that the "Grizz" mean business.
- Long gone are the chaotic ownership days of ex-NHLer Len Barrie. New ownership was introduced and wasted no time in naming a well respected General Manager/ Head Coach - Bill Bestwick. Mr. Bestwick previously coached the Nanaimo Clippers. An assistant GM announcement followed with the hiring of Craig Didmon. Didmon was a part-time assistant coach with the Victoria Royals (WHL) last season and has years of experience in local hockey circles.
- Staff moved quickly by shaking up the roster. Player additions and moves have been common the past couple of weeks. These changes were expected given that the Grizzlie's old ownership decimated the team at last season's trade deadline.
- The final exclamation mark on how serious Victoria is came with the creation of an Alumni Advisory Board. Current NHL player Ryan O'Byrne and ex-NHLer Geoff Courtnall were recently identified as members. This board will advise on all aspects of the hockey organization. Mission accomplished, credibility restored.
