Estero, Fla.-- When Troy Degler was looking to take his playing career to the next level he had a lot of options. It just so happened that the best one was right at home.
"The Jr. Blades are able to provide me with elite training with their relationship with Athletic Republic and the exposure to the best teams and scouts," said Degler. "There was no doubt in my mind that this where I wanted to be."
The Jr. Blades 2012-13 season has the reigning regular season champions primarily facing their northern foes and that's just how they like it. "When you have players like Degler who can produce more then a point per game against the best teams, it really shows the depth of their skills," said head coach/ general manager Tad O'Had.
"Troy is a special player, his ability to protect the puck, use speed and maximize his lateral movements makes him tough to catch on the ice, said O'Had.
The five-foot-ten forward is a much talked about prospect across the league. Degler racked up 18 goals and

17 assists in 33 games for the Jr. Blades in the 2011-12 season. "He is a talented player with a real vision for the game," said O'Had. Degler splashed onto the national seen this summer with an appearance at the USA Hockey Select 17 Festival in Rochester, NY and at the Dubuque Fighting Saints invite camp.
