Americans Pave Way to NCAA for Europeans; Zakharov Commits to NEC - Junior Hockey News

North American Hockey Prospects and Albany Americans President Dennis Canfield is pleased to announce that Amerks Assistant Captain Defensemen Nikita Zakharov has committed to attend and play hockey this fall for New England College.

The NEC Pilgrims are a proud members of the ECAC East Athletic Conference one of the toughest divisions of NCAA DIV III in the country. The Pilgrims graduate 3 senior defensemen and will look for the incoming freshmen to make an impact.

"We are very proud of Nikita he's a solid defensemen with an outstanding work ethic...we expect him to excel at the college level. He was very steady for us on the blueline this season and really matured and stepped his game up as the season went on." Said Canfield. "In addition to his play on the ice he was comitted to his academics and made a committment to improving himself in the gym all qualities that will lead him to excellent places and is exactly what Americans hockey is all about...he bought in and is seeing the hard work pay off"

TRYOUTS: Players interested in playing for the Americans should contact the team immediately. The club will hold one local tryout in July stay tuned for more information.

The Amerks will be heading to Kazan, Russian JUne 15-27th for a 12 day training camp highlighted by many KHL and former NHL players. Players interested in attending should contact the Amerks via: AlbanyAmericans@gmail.com
