We are getting a ton of chirps for even trying to pick apart the Canadian National Holiday which is the Memorial Cup. Let's just make this clear, JuniorHockey.com is committed to every aspect of junior hockey and would be doing the game wrong for not covering this event.
In reality, Randy Russon should be doing this but I understand the heavy value his opinion has on the landscape of junior hockey in Canada and have elected to shield him from controversy. Our own David Cole has also elected to avoid the subject all together, believing that less is somehow more. In a nutshell, those pesky Canadians are just scared.
DAY 1 RECAP
Edmonton Oil Kings (1-0) vs. Shawinigan Cataracts (0-1)
RESULT 4-3 Edmonton
Four different Oil Kings registered a goal as Edmonton went on to defeat the hometown Cataractes 4-3 to take game one of the 2012 MasterCard Memorial Cup tournament.
My Pick Record: 1-0
DAY 2 PICK
Saint John Sea Dogs vs. London Knights
The Sea Dogs are the popular pick to win this one but I am having a hard time with popular opinion. I like the fact that the Knights have not ran-away with the Ontario Hockey League this season and have had to fight to earn most of their wins The same can't be said for Saint John when most of their games were a foregone conclusion long before the opening faceoff. London will come out on top of game two.
