Edmonton wins crucial Game 4 in OT to even WHL Championship - Junior Hockey News

If the Edmonton Oil Kings win the Western Hockey League Championship against the Portland Winterhawks, Game 4 might be a crucial turning point. Edmonton held a 3-1 lead going into the 3rd period. However, Sven Bartschi scored twice in the 3rd to tie the score at 3. Rhett Rachinski notched the game-winning tally 9:07 into overtime to lift the Oil Kings to a 4-3 triumph in front of 10,947 fans at the Rose Garden. This terrific series is now tied at 2 games apiece.

Game 5 will be played in Edmonton on Thu. May 10th at 7:00 MDT. Game 6 will return to Portland on Sat. May 12th at 6:00 PDT. If the teams split the next two games, then Game 7 will take place on Sun. May 13th in Edmonton at 6:00 MDT.

Game 4 was an evenly matched, competitive affair. Both the Oil Kings and Winterhawks fired 42 shots on opposing goaltenders. You would have to believe that Edmonton has generated some momentum after escaping with a critical overtime victory in Game 4. An overtime loss would have been deflating. Would have...

Personally, as a hockey fan, I hope this series goes the limit and is decided in Game 7. The way this series has unfolded, that wouldn't be that surprising. Portland's 5-1 rout of Edmonton in Game 2 is the only game that has proved to be lopsided thus far. All of the other contests have been decided by a single goal.

Who will come out flying in Edmonton on Thursday night? We shall see. The battle continues in less than 48 hours...
